    I do NOT support West Bank settlements, but come on, Israelis withdrew from the Gaza Strip and what do they get? ROCKETS. Yeah, okay, those “peace loving freedom-fighters” don’t ever do anything wrong…?

    @greg0879 The settlements have been illegal since they started. The problem with Abbas asking for UN membership is the possible implications of Palestinian membership. In his speech, he condemned Israels treatment of the Palestinians profusely. Abbas needs to realise that a Palestinian state must not pose security threats to Israel, something very plausible danger. Instead of blaming Israel for everything, he should join an Israeli mission to destroy Hamas. Then Dershowitz will support him.

    @adam246811 Yes, I will concede that Gaza (controlled by Hamas) has conducted terrorist attacks against Israel. Gaza is isolated and Hamas has no control over the West Bank. Indeed, Hamas is harshly critical of Abbas going to the UN for recognition by the International community in an effort to delegitimize the Jewish settlements on Palestinian land. When Dershwitz comes out and supports Abbas for these efforts instead of following the Hamas example, then I will agree.

    @greg0879 He didn’t get defensive about the settlements, they were beside the point. He’s is an outspoken critic of the settlements and supports their total abolition in favour of a two-state solution. There is not an expansion of Israel, as Chomsky says. I don’t support the occupation in any way, but conversely, Israel has offered numerous times to end the occupation and give the Palestinians their state. It’s them that reject every offer and force the occupation to continue due to terrorism.

    Id actually have respect for Alan Dershowitz if he would just come out? and say: “jews and israel matter more than any one or any thing else, and the rest of the world comes in a distant second to the needs of jews and israel”

I am always happy to listen to someone even if they don’t share my views on a situation. You’ve given nothing to support your position. No points for me to consider or scholars referenced. Only hateful remarks that don’t disprove any facts I’ve stated or concerns I have for the future of peace.

    @fynsr Dershowitz is a watchdog for AIPAC and has an agenda just like Zogby has his. The difference is that Deshowitz has no qualms with the expansion of Israel, the Geneva accords they don’t adhere to, or the substance of the 2002 peace treaty they signed and still ignore. Look at my words carefully. Do you really think Israel can keep expanding and play the victim/champion for peace? Israel has only cultivated our support. What happens if the aid money ceases? They have no other bridges.
